How the calculation works
Turnover = wagering base × wagering multiplier. The base is either the bonus alone or the deposit plus the bonus, and the second one doubles the turnover on a 100% offer. If a game counts only partly towards wagering, the turnover grows by the same ratio: at 50% contribution you stake twice as much.
Expected loss = turnover × (100% - RTP). It is the average cost of the wagering, not a forecast for one session. When the expected loss is higher than the bonus, the offer is worth less than nothing on average.
Example with real numbers
Deposit 100, bonus 100%, 35x on the bonus, slots at 96% RTP, 1 per spin. Turnover: 3,500. Spins: 3,500. Expected loss: 140, which is more than the 100 bonus. Expected balance at the end: 60 out of the 200 you started with.
The same offer with 35x on deposit plus bonus needs 7,000 in stakes and costs 280 on average. That is why the base of the wagering matters as much as the multiplier.
